International Earth Day Celebration

“The Earth is what we all have in common.” – Wendell Berry To mark the significance of Earth Day, G.D. Goenka Public School, Sirsa, organized a day full of learning, creativity, and environmental awareness. The celebrations began with a special morning assembly, where students presented thought-provoking views on preserving our planet. They took a solemn pledge to safeguard Earth through mindful and sustainable initiatives. The highlight of the day was a powerful Nukkad Natak, in which students boldly critiqued unsustainable government policies and raised awareness on deforestation and its impact on nature. Their performance not only captivated the audience but also ignited a deep sense of responsibility among peers. Students from Grade Nursery to Grade 9 actively participated in a range of art and craft activities like bud painting, thumb painting, hand painting, sketching, and coloring. They created eye-catching posters focusing on various environmental issues, turning imagination into impactful messages. An interactive environmental quiz was also conducted to enhance students’ knowledge of pressing ecological concerns. Students of Grade 4 had a close interaction with aquatic life as they observed the habitat of fish in the school aquarium and even helped feed them. Our respected Principal Ma’am shared valuable insights on caring for animals, inspiring young minds to show empathy and kindness. Students from Grade 10 to 12 engaged in tree plantation, choosing fruit-bearing plants to nurture the environment. They also showed compassion towards birds and insects by feeding ants and placing food and water in earthen vessels to help them survive the scorching summer heat. The day beautifully blended awareness, action, and affection for our Earth, leaving each student more conscious and committed to making a difference.
